The following guides are for use by existing, contracted James Currey authors.

James Currey Author Guidelines
This guide aims to help you to deliver a finished manuscript that will conform to our specifications and standards. We ask you to read this document before beginning any work on your book, and to keep it at hand for reference during the writing and revising processes.

Boydell & Brewer House Style Notes
In producing our authors' books we aim to publish text that is well written according to generally accepted rules of English grammar, and well presented according to generally accepted typographical practice. These alphabetically ordered notes provide a collection of conventions which we prefer to follow.

Boydell & Brewer Indexing Guidelines
This guide is intended primarily for authors who, for the first time, need to index their own work; it also includes information on how indexes should be formatted and submitted to Boydell & Brewer. It is not intended to be exhaustive. If you want to know more about indexing see the Further Reading section at the end of the guide.

James Currey Notes for Edited Collections
These notes should be read in conjunction with our Guide for James Currey Authors and the Boydell & Brewer house style notes, but the main points are as follows.

James Currey Thesis into Book
This story highlights the difference between a thesis and a book. The similarity between the two is deceptive. For a publisher and the general reader this distinction is critical.
